I created this homemade fajita seasoning because we have this strange phenomenon in my family. My children have these weird allergies until they are about 2 1/2 years old. My oldest son couldn’t tolerate the dairy protein and my other son and my my baby girl not only have problems with the dairy protein but also gluten and soy. They are technically intolerances and not allergies. Sometimes accommodating these allergies, or rather intolerances (they don’t have anaphylaxis reactions, they bleed from their bowels) can be difficult. We are constantly checking labels and making sure we are up to date on all the latest allergen information. There are so many different ways an allergens can be listed. Not only are labels difficult to decode, it seems that every company interprets labeling laws differently and so I am constantly calling companies to find out about their allergy labeling system. While time consuming, it is so worth it to keep my children healthy. Have any of you had to deal with this sort of thing? Do you have any tips or tricks or favorite recipes? I used to use a fajita seasoning packet…. but it contains ingredients our diet restrictions don’t tolerate and so I resorted to making up my own blend. My family really loves it! I like that I actually know what it contains and that there aren’t any artificial colors or flavors. If you like more or less of something, feel free to make it suit your family’s tastes.
Mix all spices together. Store in an airtight container. Use to season your favorite fajita recipes. About two heaping tablespoons equals one seasoning packet. Enjoy!
