We love cookies around here (Facebook friends, you all know this 🙂 ) and these Homemade M&M Soft Batch Cookies are no exception. In fact, they’ve quickly become my family’s new favorite cookies. I have a standard cookie recipe that has always been my go-to recipe, and they will always have a place in my kitchen, but they don’t stay soft like these ones do and as my son says, “sometimes you just want a soft cookie.” Right you are, I couldn’t have said it better kiddo! I actually took that old standby cookie recipe of mine and tweaked it so that it would make soft batch cookies because I already knew the flavor wouldn’t disappoint – nobody wants a disappointing cookie, do they? My husband likes these even better than the soft cream cheese pudding cookies that I made around Valentine’s Day (which surprised me because he loved those) and I do to, not only because they are soft and delicious, but because I don’t have to leave an opened half packet of dry pudding mix around waiting to
spill be used up in my cupboards. Did you know you could achieve the same results by adding plain old cornstarch to your cookies? That’s the secret ingredient. My kids are also crazy for these cookies. I always know when my family is excited about a new recipe because they complain when I package them up to send out the door to friends and family. I’m always sending things off for taste testing and they were on me like a hawk with these bad boys making sure we had plenty left in the house for them to enjoy. I will be posting a chocolate chip version of this cookie in the future, but started with M&M’s because they are bright and happy and I wanted to use these M&M soft batch cookies with my You Are One Smart Cookie printable to kick off school with. Aren’t they a cute way to ad a little extra fun to that first day of school?

- 3 cups flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup butter flavored Crisco
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1 cup M&Ms candy divided
-
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sift flour, corn starch, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl. Set aside. Cream both sugars, butter, and Crisco together until light in color. Beat in eggs, one at at time. Mix in vanilla. Add flour mixture and mix until combined. Stir in mini chocolate chips and 1/2 cup M&Ms. Using a medium cookie scoop, (about 2 Tablespoons or 1/8 cups) drop cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing about an inch apart. Gently push two to three M&Ms into the top of each cookie. Bake for 9-11 minutes. The cookies will not be set all the way and the edges will barely have started to turn golden brown if at all (the bottoms of the cookies may be brown though). Do not over bake! Let the cookies cool for three or four minutes, or until set, before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
Need cookies for a crowd? No problem! I usually always make a double batch and it works beautifully! We love cookies at my house (we also like to share 🙂 ).
I’m a sucker for anything with M&M’s
M&Ms are so happy, aren’t they! I love them too!
These cookies will be a hit with my little man!
I hope he enjoys them as much as my kiddos do 🙂
M&M’s are my guilty pleasure, so I can’t wait to try these cookies. I’m pinning this to try them soon. About how many cookies are in 1 batch?
That’s a great question, TaMara! I should know, but I don’t because I usually always make them in a double batch which makes a ton of cookies. Last time I made them I sent a plate home with friends, a gallon sized baggie to work worth my husband and two bags left for home. Sorry I’m not more help. Thanks for being part of JCD!
