- Paint, we used red, blue, and glittered acrylic craft paint
- spiked squish balls (ours came from the dollar store, I’d recommend one for each color) If you can’t find them locally, you can use this affiliate link to buy some.
- white paper plates or bowls, one for each color
- cardboard or something to place in between t-shirt layers (sometimes we use lids from plastic totes)
To make your shirts place a piece of cardboard, sometimes we use a lid from a plastic tote, inside your t-shirt to keep the front and back layers from touching. Now pour a little paint into your paper plates or bowls, one for each color. Dip your spiked squish ball in the paint and stamp your shirt with it. You can practice on paper or cardboard a few times to get the feel for it if you want to. We used one color at a time, using the glitter last to make sure it sparkled on top of the other colors. We also tried to let the colors dry mostly before stamping over them to keep them from bleeding into each other. The paint dries really fast so we really didn’t have to wait any longer then it took us to trade colors. That’s it! They were super easy! I love how each kiddo was able to create something unique to fit their individual personality:)!
Super cute!
Thanks! We had so much fun making them, Jen!
Washable?
Tracy, totally! I’ve already washed ours and they came out great! I did wash them by themselves the first time :)!
How adorable!! My nanny kids will love this! Do you need to push hard to get the firework look or just lightly touch the squish balls to the shirts?
Brittany, it’s not like stamping in that regard, you don’t have to push very hard at all. I would grab a piece of extra paper or cardboard and practice a few times if you are nervous. 🙂
Those came out awesome! Great job!
Thank you!
We made these tonight, super fun, super cute, can’t mess it up. Looked all over the internet for ideas and this was by far the best. The balls were at the dollar store exactly as you said:-)
Thanks, Marjorie! I really appreciate that you took the time to come back and let me know how much you enjoyed these shirts! I know we had a blast making them too! Have a wonderful 4th of July and thanks for being a part of JCD!
