Now that two of my kiddos are back in school I am always looking for fun creative projects we can work on together when we get the chance. I love creative activities that keep them busy, laughing and enjoying each other, and away from those darn video games they love so dang much. Our local fine arts center held a class this summer that taught kids how to make insects out of these colorful wires. My kids had so much fun that I asked about the product and checked them out to order some for our home. They are called Twisteez Wires and you can find them here. We’ve made scorpions and mosquitoes and wasps and their creature wish list just keeps growing as they wait for the wires I ordered to arrive.

Twisteez Wires (they’re non-toxic) are incredibly easy to work with there’s no sticky glue mess or paint to wipe up, tiny scraps of paper to pick up, and other than maybe some pony beads, there aren’t tons of supplies to gather. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes we dig it all out and get crazy with the art, but once in a while it’s nice to have something quick and easy that the kids love to work with. And while I don’t mind helping them when they need it, there really isn’t a right or wrong way to use these craft wires so the kids pretty much can go wild themselves. They are kind of addicting to play with once you get started so don’t be surprised if you find yourself sitting down to make your own wire sculptures.
